Zurich NA hires Chubb veteran to expand in US middle market

Zurich North America has hired a Chubb veteran as head of general and developing industries for its US middle market unit.

In her new role, Kate Bernay (pictured) will be responsible for developing a business plan focused on underwriting products, services and tools that drive industry specialisation, and underwriting expertise within current and future industry segments.

Bernay joins Zurich from Chubb, where she held several leadership positions of increasing responsibility over the past 15 years. Most recently she served as vice president, New York region underwriting manager. Her previous roles included assistant vice president and team leader in commercial lines.

“Kate will be a valuable thought leader as we continue to expand our Middle Market underwriting appetite and build additional industry expertise into our portfolio,” said John Mizzi, head of industry practices, US middle market.
