Zurich poaches AIG exec to head up US casualty international programs

Zurich Insurance Group has hired an experienced executive from AIG as head of US casualty international programs underwriting within its commercial insurance business.

Scott Toland will be responsible for driving underwriting leadership and leading operational transformation in the US casualty international program. He is based in Los Angeles and reports to Ralph Brand, global head of casualty, commercial insurance.

Toland joined Zurich from AIG where he held various leadership positions. Most recently, he served as senior vice president, successfully leading the risk management practice for the western region of the US. Prior to this role, he was responsible for AIG’s casualty operation, strategy, underwriting and marketing in the western region of the US.

He brings extensive industry experience and deep understanding of the casualty space to the role. His expertise and leadership skills will be instrumental as we focus on strengthening our underwriting capabilities in casualty.”
