Zurich taps Tikkie co-founder as group chief platform officer
Zurich Insurance Group has created a new role of group chief platform officer to accelerate the development of its digital services.
Frank Verkerk will join Zurich in mid-August from ABN Amro, where he was chief digital officer and responsible for digital transformation. He also initiated and chaired ABN Amro’s Corporate Venture Capital fund, AA Ventures, specialising in FinTech.
Earlier in his career, he founded various digital companies including MoneYou, a challenger digital bank, which was launched in four European countries, and the P2P payment platform Tikkie, one of the largest B2B2C platforms in The Netherlands.
In his new role, Verkerk will focus on enabling open platforms with third parties for Zurich businesses to quickly develop and integrate next generation insurance-as-a-service solutions.
Verkerk will work closely with Zurich’s global business platforms business unit, under the leadership of Jack Howell, to accelerate development of digital and modular services. He will be based in Zurich, Switzerland, and report to Ericson Chan, group chief information and digital officer.
Chan said: “Frank has a very strong background and understanding of the digital business and data transformation, and is a proven and skilled leader. It is our priority to continuously strengthen our capabilities to deliver superior solutions to our customers. I have every confidence that Frank will help us elevate our digital platform strategy to position Zurich for long-term success.”
