North American broker M&A falls to slowest first half in a decade

North American insurance agency and broker merger and acquisition (M&A) activity has continued to slow, with 292 transactions recorded in the first half of 2026, marking the weakest start to a year since 2016, according to financial advisory firm Optis Partners.
