QBE Re rounds out leadership rejig on Swiss Re steal & a promotion

QBE Re raided Swiss Re and promoted an insider in the final steps to rebuild its senior leadership structure.

Andrew Guarnori arrives from Swiss Re to take the newly created role of head of underwriting oversight. Guarnori did more than 20 years at Swiss Re, most recently as Deputy Head of Financial Lines within the Global P&C Reinsurance team following tours with St Paul Re (Travelers), Europa Re (Berkshire Hathaway) and GE Insurance Solutions.

Ashish (Ash) Ahluwalia will be promoted to global head of performance & portfolio analytics. Ash will step up from the QBE actuarial team where he has held the role of head of reserving since 2021.

The two appointments follow Mark Jackaman’s appointment as General Manager, London, and completes the change in senior leadership structure, both announced earlier in the year.

Chris Killourhy, Managing Director QBE Re, said: “Having Andrew and Ash join QBE Re further evidences our commitment to professionalism, modernisation and delivering for our cedants. We have a clear vision for QBE Re and the appointments of Ash and Andrew will allow us to execute on this vision given their focus on underwriting quality and portfolio balance.”
