Reinsurance reset put earnings well past cost of capital in 2023

The long-awaited move by reinsurers to beat their weighted average cost of capital (WACC) in 2023 is a nearly pure testament to capital gains and underwriting profits against a cost of capital little altered despite market volatility and economic uncertainty, analysts at AM Best have noted.
