Ryan Transactional Risk unveils co-heads of Continental Europe
Ryan Transactional Risk (RTR) has appointed Marta Batalla and Luc Joordens as co-heads of Continental Europe for the transactional risk managing general underwriter, which is a part of Ryan Specialty.
Batalla is based in Madrid, Spain, and Joordens in Barcelona, Spain. In addition to the offices in Spain, RTR has offices in London, Copenhagen, New York and Singapore. In their new formalized roles, Batalla and Joordens are responsible for the underwriting, business development and expansion in all Continental European territories.
They both joined Ryan Transactional Risk in 2019, setting up and establishing its Continental European underwriting platform.
Batalla started her career in the M&A insurance market in 2014 and as one of the first underwriters dedicated to the Iberian market. With her 10+ years of professional experience as a corporate and M&A lawyer in some of the most reputable law firms, Batalla has significantly contributed to the development and use of Warranty & Indemnity Insurance in Spain and Portugal.
Joordens has been in the insurance market for 10+ years, building teams and underwriting various financial lines and M&A insurance products across a wide range of European territories. Prior to RTR, Joordens successfully built up a Continental European portfolio as Underwriting Manager M&A and Financial Lines at another managing general agency.
James Montgomery, Managing Director of Ryan Transactional Risk, said: “Marta and Luc have been successfully leading our European build out for over four years. During this time, RTR has grown, and the European transactional risk market has expanded. They individually and together know the European transactional risk landscape well and are the right team to move us forward.” Marta Batalla added, “Luc and I are very much looking forward to the opportunity of our new position. There is so much activity in the European continent, and we look forward to continuing to develop the right solutions for our clients and expanding our network deeper into Europe.”
