Surplus lines slowed to 12% growth in 2024; California issues in focus

Surplus lines premium growth slowed only fractionally to a 12.1% annual rate in 2024 to $81 billion, down only slightly from 2023's 14.6% growth rate, a dataset from 15 US stamping offices compiled by the insurance industry lobby group WSIA indicated. Policy counts rose by 9.5%.
