US MBS packager Fannie Mae cuts Q2 insurance limit

Fannie Mae, the US government-backed firm that packages mortgage-backed securities, bought a mere $622 million in excess of loss limit on only $20.3 billion in underlying housing portfolios during the second quarter, down by roughly half from the prior year period as deals continue to lag since H2 2023.
