Allianz Commercial taps insider for global marine leadership role
Allianz Commercial tapped its own talent pool, pushing a regional inland marine leader to the become the group’s new global head of marine as the group pushes insiders up the ladder.
Rich Soja succeeds Ulrich Kadow as global head of marine. Soja, with Allianz since 2017, currently serves as head of inland marine/regional head of marine North America and will continue to oversee those responsibilities until a successor is confirmed. In his new role, he will report to Gordon Browne, global head of specialty.
Soja sports over 35 years of experience in marine insurance including his tenure at Allianz and prior tours of duty in increasingly senior marine underwriting roles for Chubb, Aspen Insurance, and Tokio Marine.
Kadow shifted into to a new role in Allianz Commercial in December 2023 as global head of product management and underwriting transformation. He and his team are focusing on harnessing the potential of technology and digitalisation with the aim to enable underwriters to assess risks and service clients and brokers as effectively as possible, Allianz said.
Browne said: “I am absolutely delighted to have Rich joining the leadership team for this key position. With his extensive knowledge of both our business and the Marine sector, he is perfectly placed to build on the excellent foundations that Ulrich Kadow established with the team and lead our Marine business in the future.”
