Ascot appoints new CIO to drive US business strategy

Bermuda-based specialty re/insurer Ascot Group has appointed a new chief information officer for its US business, responsible for crafting a business technology roadmap and managing large business and technology projects.

Andrew MacDonald has been named US chief information officer, reporting to CIO Owen Williams. MacDonald will be responsible for driving and delivering technology solutions to enable and optimise Ascot’s US business strategy.

MacDonald was previously principal of Insurance212 Solutions, an insurtech and transformation program business he also founded. Before that, he was chief information officer at Kemper Property & Casualty and held leadership roles at CNA, The Hartford, and Innovation Group/ Huan.

“In his three decades as an insurance IT professional, Andrew has proven himself to be an effective and respected leader with deep technical knowledge and experience,” said Williams.

“As we continue to lead Ascot with a client-centric, risk-centric, and tech-centric mindset, Andrew’s forward-thinking mindset and experience driving growth and transformation initiatives at large P&C organisations will be critical to leading our transformation and growth in the digital age.”
