Berkshire BHSI nabs Chaucer talent for UK leadership role
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has tapped Chaucer Syndicate’s group head of distribution to support its expansion in the UK.
Fiona Merton (pictured) has been appointed as head of customer & broker engagement UK at BHSI, based in London.
The position was previously held by Mark Walker, who was recently named head of national business, UK, at BHSI.
Merton has more than two decades of London Market & UK insurance industry experience focused on business development and production. Prior to joining Chaucer in 2015, Merton worked at Travelers for more than seven years.
“So that's a wrap, my 9 years at Chaucer comes to an end,” Merton said on LinkedIn. “I leave a company that has changed a great deal over that time, from a Lloyd's syndicate to a specialty global re/insurer. Chaucer is a great company and has fabulous people who I will miss. Sad to be leaving but excited for my new challenge.“
Nick Major, country head, BHSI, UK, said: “Fiona’s immense talent for team and relationship-building will be an invaluable asset in BHSI’s collaborative culture. Her ability to foster strong relationships fits perfectly with BHSI’s focus on building long-term partnerships, and we look forward to working with her as we continue to grow our business in the UK and around the world.”
