E&S property rates drop up to 20%, capacity surge fuels fierce competition

Rates in the excess and surplus (E&S) property market are already falling sharply in early 2026, with deal-by-deal reductions averaging between 12.5% and 20% as abundant capacity and aggressive competition reshape placements, according to Risk Placement Services (RPS).
