Gallagher Re extends top leadership reshuffle with strategic EMEA shifts
Global reinsurance broker Gallagher Re has made further strategic changes to its leadership team in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region with key appointments.
Hamish Dowlen (pictured left) has been appointed new managing director of EMEA at Gallagher Re, with effect from June 1, with Ditte Deschars (pictured right) moving into the chairperson role for EMEA, in addition to her leadership of the Nordic region.
The broker explained that for the past five years, Dowlen has been leading the DACH business, recently adding CEE & Holland to his management responsibilities.
“Not only is he an exceptional leader and people manager, he also brings deep experience as a successful producer with a tremendous work ethic,” said outgoing CEO, International, Tony Melia.
Melia added: “Ditte is a passionate regional leader, senior Client Advocate and brings a wealth of experience with her work on the carrier management side. I wish them both every success in their new roles.”
Last month, Gallagher Re appointed Dirk Spenner as new chief executive officer, international, effective June 2024. He will take over from Melia, who is retiring after a career of over 40 years.
