GBN appoints new leader to build London specialty MGA venture
London-based specialty managing general agent (MGA) GBN Worldwide Risk Solutions (GBNRS) has expanded its leadership team by appointing a new director and group head of international.
Houssam Yehya will be responsible for the development and operations of GBNRS, which launched in February to enable brokers to place risks in territories beyond their jurisdictions in over 150 countries via the GBN Worldwide network’s 10,000+ insurance and risk management professionals.
Yehya has more than 15 years of re/insurance industry experience, having worked with the group since the start of his career.
Based in London, he will report to Jamil Elbahou, chairman of Silverbrook Holdings, the parent company of GBN Worldwide and the ConnectUW Holdings Group.
Elbahou said: “We are excited to announce the appointment of Houssam as head of GBNRS. With extensive international experience, knowledge of global markets, multiple business lines and partnerships with local brokers and re/insurers across the globe, Houssam is a perfect fit for the role, having grown his career in and around the GBN network and he is well known to members. Administering foreign insurance and reinsurance programmes can be challenging.
“Houssam will facilitate access to our network members via GBNRS for wholesale and retail brokers looking to underwrite programmes internationally, compliantly and seamlessly. GBNRS provides the international element to our philosophy, which is to provide services and capacity to the broker partners we work with in London and abroad.”
Yeyha added: “I am excited and honoured to have the opportunity to continue working with the team and to help establish and grow this new venture. GBNRS will play an important role in growing international business for GBN Worldwide and its members by helping the wider insurance community to place risks in territories outside their jurisdictions.”
