Gen-AI in Insurance kicks off with Lloyd’s keynote

Intelligent Insurer’s Gen-AI in Insurance began this morning with a packed agenda exploring all things Gen-AI with a constellation of expert speakers.

The event’s first keynote speaker, Bob James, chief operating officer at Lloyd's, will offer insights in his session titled ‘Integrate Gen-AI into your operations and infrastructure, ensuring responsible and secure deployment’. For many this might seem like an impossible task given the heavily regulated world of insurance, the complex London Markets and concerns over accuracy or even Gen-AI hallucinations.

Lloyd’s James will discuss the importance of investing in robust data infrastructure and ensuring the quality of the data used for training AI models. He will also dive into the ways costs can be managed and the potential impact this can have on growth, as well as share tactics for cloud APIs and integrating Gen-AI into your tech infrastructure.

IntellectAI EVP and Insurance Business head Sandeep Haridas is the second keynote speaker of the day with a presentation titled ‘The rise of generative AI in underwriting: Vital tools and considerations for underwriters’. Haridas will share insights on how to use Gen-AI to double the capacity of underwriting teams, apply underwriting guidelines to accounts and assess the desirability of risks at speed.

Delegates will hear how the technology can be used to plug the talent and skills gap by leveraging knowledge transfer as well as how it can take some of the load off underwriters to support quicker accounts processing and more accurate decision making. Haridas will also discuss the thorny issue of how to balance automated and human input by promoting a collaborative approach where AI systems augment human decision making.

The first panel of the day will delve into the possibilities Gen-AI has to better analyse large volumes of unstructured data and heavy documentation. Panelists Petr Vaclav, vice president, Decision Science & AI, EMEA at RGA Global Data & Analytics, Parul Kaul-Green, former chief digital strategy officer at Liberty Specialty Markets, Jeremy Trott, claims director and claims operations team leader at Ecclesiastical Insurance, Mamoon Yunus, CEO at Forum Systems, and Hélène Stanway, co-founder of SENSE Consortium will debate the topic in a session titled ‘Unleash the potential of Gen-AI to make better, faster decisions’.

In the second panel of the day, titled ‘Streamlining the claims process with the power of Gen-AI’ speakers will discuss how to automatically analyse and generate damage assessments based on images, using AI-powered document generation to create claim-related documents, and how the tech can transform fraud detection. After a sumptuous networking lunch, delegates will hear from Emeline Careme, head of computable contracts at AXA, in her session titled ‘ How to unlock insurance contracts’ intelligence to boost efficiency across the value chain?’
