Hurricane Milton slams Florida as Category 3, weakens after landfall

Hurricane Milton struck Florida’s west coast near Siesta Key as a Category 3 on Wednesday evening (October 9), before weakening to Category 1 as it moved inland, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).
