Arc Legal launches extension to landlord’s LEI product

Arc Legal Assistance (Arc Legal), a provider of legal expenses insurance (LEI) and assistance services in the UK and Ireland, has extended its legal defence cover for landlords in response to the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act which came into force last year.

The legislation is designed to improve tenants’ living standards in rental properties, by allowing tenants to take direct legal action against the landlord if they have failed to provide a rental property that is not “fit for human habitation”.

As a result, Arc Legal has widened the legal defence cover under their landlord’s legal expenses product to defend any civil or criminal prosecution against the landlord, which will include matters brought under this legislation.
