Aspen poaches Hiscox's head of London Market claims

Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings has hired Hiscox's Tony Rai as head of Aspen Insurance UK (AIUK) and Aspen Managing Agency (AMAL) claims.

Rai will join Aspen in early 2021 from Hiscox, where he has been head of London Market claims since 2009 and responsible for the management and leadership of claims for three business units - Hiscox London Market Insurance (including Hiscox MGA), Hiscox Re, and Hiscox Special Risks.

He joined Hiscox in 2007 as head of first party claims and was previously a solicitor in the insurance and reinsurance department at Clyde & Co.

In his new role, Rai will lead the claims offering for Aspen’s International operations and drive the delivery of the businesses’ claims commitment and proposition to trading partners and customers.

Mike Sowa, group chief claims officer of Aspen, said: “It is testament to the excellent reputation of the Aspen claims team – and the wider ongoing efforts to transform our business with a strong focus on value creation – that someone with Tony’s experience and expertise is joining us at this time. I look forward to working closely with him as we continue to invest in this important part of our offering.”
