AXIS bolsters renewable energy business with Aspen hire

AXIS Insurance, a part of Bermuda-based holding company AXIS Capital, has hired Christina Tom as vice president, renewable energy underwriter.

Tom joins AXIS from Aspen Insurance, where for the last five years she served as vice president of inland marine, helping launch and grow the company’s San Francisco office.

Prior to Aspen, Tom was a senior underwriter in both inland marine and commercial insurance, focusing on the West Coast and Pacific Northwest regions for OneBeacon. She began her specialty insurance career in 2003 as a commercial insurance underwriter at Chubb.

In her new role, Tom joins AXIS Insurance’s global renewable energy team, where she will be responsible for leading its US West Coast business, underwriting wind, solar and energy storage risks.

She will report to Tom Cain, vice president and head of US renewable energy, AXIS Insurance, and will be based out of the company’s San Francisco office.

Cain commented: "We are seeing strong momentum building behind our US Renewable Energy business, and Christina’s appointment is a key step as we expand our footprint to the West Coast, a booming renewable energy market.

"Christina is a true expert in the Renewables space, and her leadership will be invaluable as we enhance our offerings in such categories as wind, solar and energy storage risks."
