Barbican bolsters cyber team with Allianz execs
Barbican Insurance Group has appointed Graeme King to lead its cyber division as the business group leader, and Richard Spotswood as cyber underwriting manager.
Both executives join Barbican's Syndicate 1955 from Allianz. King was most recently the practice leader and underwriter, tech PI and cyber at Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty. Prior to that, he was a senior technology and cyber underwriter at XL in London. He has also held positions at Hiscox and Zurich in the past.
Spotswood has most recently served as a senior tech PI and cyber underwriter at Allianz. Prior to that, he has worked as an underwriter at Principia Underwriting, and at Willis as divisional director within the firm's financial lines and technology, media and telecommunications practice.
Iain Bremner, managing director of Barbican Managing Agency, said: "Barbican has maintained a leading position in the cyber insurance sector for a number of years, introducing pioneering cover for this rapidly evolving and dynamic risk.
"With the appointment of Graeme to head-up our cyber operations and Richard as underwriting manager, we have a formidable team that is more than capable of further strengthening our position in this increasingly competitive sector. The cyber insurance sector has vast potential and we are now better positioned than ever to fully capitalise on that potential."
