BMS Re poaches new CFO from Allianz GCS

BMS, the independent specialist re/insurance broker, has named a new chief financial officer (CFO) for  BMS Re.

Eric Matheny replaces Steve Korducki as CFO of the business, with Korducki becoming vice chairman, focusing on capital advisory, property cat solutions and corporate strategic alliances.

Matheny joins BMS Re from Allianz Global Corporate and Speciality (AGCS), where he was head of operations. Before that he ran his own consultancy business for two years as a financial planner in Chicago. He began his career in finance in General Electric’s financial management programme in 1987, and held a number of senior roles at General Electric, including as CFO of the business’ French life insurance company Vie Plus.

In his new role Matheny is based in Chicago and reports to Pete Chandler, president and chief executive officer of BMS Re.

Chandler said: “Eric’s broad range of leadership experience in finance and operations roles demonstrates exactly the sort of breadth, agility and versatility required to support the continued expansion of our US reinsurance operations. He is passionate about leadership and places great emphasis on employee engagement, a quality we value deeply here at BMS.”

Matheny praised BMS’ “outstanding analytical capabilities and market-leading and client-focused operational practices.”
