Brit swoops for Navigators to grow US casualty unit
Specialty re/insurer Brit has appointed Mark Richards as senior vice president, general liability for Brit Global Specialty USA (BGSU). He joins from Navigators Group.
Richards has over thirty years of underwriting experience across casualty classes. At Navigators, he was president of primary casualty division, responsible for leading its excess and surplus (E&S) primary casualty platform. Prior to this, Richards launched and grew the E&S primary casualty division at Argonaut Specialty Division (part of Argo Group). Earlier in his career, he held underwriting roles at Axis Insurance, CNA and Zurich amongst others.
Richards joins BGSU, based in Chicago, and will report to Doug Trainor, executive vice president, casualty.
The new hire follows the appointment of former Aspen underwriter Jonathan Liening as senior vice president, excess casualty in August 2017 and the build out of BGSU’s professional lines offering with a number of senior hires, the company noted.
