Canopius plucks CUO from Optio Group to lead US casualty treaty

Specialty re/insurer  Canopius Group plucked the chief underwriting officer from Optio Group to lead its US casualty treaty business from London.

Paul Western (pictured) will bring 30 years of industry experience, including from his most recent post as chief underwriting officer of Optio Group. Prior to that, Western had built the bulk of his US casualty experience while climbing the ladder for 17 years at MS Amlin Syndicate.

Canopius head of specialty reinsurance Christopher Gray commented: “With an impressive reputation, market leading expertise and invaluable relationships, Paul is a fantastic addition to our business.
