CFC creates senior underwriting management team to manage continued expansion

CFC, the specialist insurance provider specialising in emerging risk and cyber, has introduced a new layer of senior underwriting management to support its ambitious growth plans.

Tim Boyce is named as head of professions and healthcare, with Michael Brunero becoming head of tech, media and intellectual property.

James Burns has been appointed as head of cyber, while Kate Lyes becomes head of specialty lines. Gus Marshall has been named head of transaction liability.

Wayne Harrington, who joined CFC as head of property and casualty three years ago, also joins the new senior underwriting management team.

Dave Walsh, CFC’s chief executive officer and founder, pointed to the group’s rapid growth in recent years, which has seen it more than double its headcount inside three years, both organically and via acquisitions in the UK, US and Australia.

“Over half of our people are now employed across our underwriting teams,” said Walsh. “They’re the engine powering our continued growth and so it’s important that we have the right leadership in place to own each product line not only to help shape, evolve and implement underwriting strategy but also to play a critical role in the management and oversight of each team.”

CFC now writes 50 innovative products across 17 lines of specialist insurance, serving over 100,000 businesses in 80 countries.

CFC had also appointed Louise O’Shea, CEO of Confused.com, as an independent non-executive director in March.
