CFC Underwriting, the specialist lines underwriting agency, has appointed Matt Taylor as head of emerging risk. This newly created role will see Taylor responsible for the overall development of CFC’s portfolio of emerging risk, including lines such as cyber, emerging technology, transaction liability and intellectual property rights insurance. It will also see him take a seat on the board of directors, subject to FCA approval. Taylor joins CFC from Montpelier at Lloyd’s where he held the position of active underwriter and head of non-marine. David Walsh, chief executive officer, CFC, said: “Our business has been built upon emerging risk and we are passionate about this rapidly evolving area of insurance. Matt joining to head this up is a sign of our ambition and our commitment to the class.” He added: “Our goal is to become a global leader in emerging risk within the next three years. Given the growth we have achieved over recent years and the extent of our ambition, we felt it was the right time for us to create this significant new board position. We’re delighted to have secured someone of Matt’s calibre to take up the mantle and are confident that his skills and talents will help us achieve that goal.” Taylor commented: “I’m very excited to be joining CFC at such an interesting time of growth and expansion, and look forward to working with the team to further develop the profitable area of emerging risk and ensure CFC continues to be ahead of the curve.”
