CFC lures Catlin exec
Specialist lines underwriting agency, CFC, has strengthened its kidnap and ransom (K&R) team with the appointment of Mark Baker.
Baker joins from Catlin, where he spent four years as a K&R underwriter focusing on both land and marine.
Previously he worked at Aon for 20 years, most recently in the crisis management team specifically focusing on terrorism and more latterly, product recall. He was also responsible for the creation and implementation of an e-commerce system to transact terrorism business.
Kate Lyes, management liability practice leader, said: “We’ve experienced a strong response to the launch of our marine piracy policy at the beginning of the year, particularly as the online portal has made it incredibly easy for brokers to obtain quotes and issue policy documentation instantly. We want to build on the success of that technology and extend our capabilities for land K&R to create a standalone option rather than providing as part of a package.
“Mark has tremendous experience in not only underwriting this class of business, but equally important in developing technology platforms to support it. I’m delighted to welcome him to the CFC team.”
