CNA Hardy gets Malaysia licence for Asia expansion

Specialist commercial insurer CNA Hardy has gained authorisation to set up operations in Labuan, Malaysia, expanding its presence in Asia.

The company's principal officer in Asia Rob Hands said its immediate focus in Malaysia will be on the same classes of business offered through its Singapore office, including property D&F and treaty, construction, marine, power generation, healthcare, financial lines and casualty.

"This is an incredibly exciting time in the expansion of our business across Asia," Hands commented. "Having a presence in this international business and financial centre enables us to lay solid foundations for enduring relationships with our global clients and producers through an enhanced product and service offering."

"We will also look to develop new lines of business as our experience in the market deepens," he added.

CNA Hardy CEO Dave Brosnan said: "Obtaining an enhanced licence to do business in Labuan is the most recent development in our ongoing strategy to build out our presence in Asia.

"We have been part of the Lloyd’s China platform since 2016 and last year saw us add new products and capabilities to our hub in Singapore including: Healthcare, Life Science and Financial Lines whilst attracting significant talent to the organisation across both new and existing lines as well as claims. Asia is a strategic market for CNA Hardy and we are very pleased with how our business is developing here."
