Compre swoops on ArgoGlobal for new North America chief actuary

Re/insurance legacy specialist  Compre has hired a senior ArgoGlobal executive for the newly created role of chief actuary, North America.

Zameer Mitha (pictured) will be based in London and report to group chief actuary Mark Lawson.

Mitha, who will also spend some of his time in Bermuda, will be responsible for transaction pricing, reserving and actuarial reporting activities for Compre’s North America platform. Meanwhile, Davin Patel, head of actuarial for Europe and Lloyd’s, will continue to oversee pricing, reserving and reporting activities for Compre’s European and Lloyd’s platforms.

Mitha has more than 17 years of industry experience in actuarial reserving and pricing, underwriting, strategy and transformation across North America, the UK, Europe and Middle East regions. He joins Compre from ArgoGlobal, where he spent 10 years in various roles, most recently as head of transformation and interim head of Europe, which included leading the sale of a portion of Argo’s legacy business.

Lawson said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome Zameer to Compre who will be a great asset to our actuarial team. His extensive experience will be enormously beneficial, not least his sell side perspective which will be invaluable in the delivery of bespoke solutions to our clients. I look forward to working with him as we further develop our North American business, a core market for Compre.”
