Deloitte reveals head of global reinsurance

Accountancy firm Deloitte has revealed a new head of its global reinsurance unit.

Gurpreet Johal will take the resins as its UK and global sector leader for global reinsurance and the London market.

Johal joined Deloitte in 1995 and was most recently its global artificial intelligence financial services leader. A fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, he has advised some of Deloitte’s most significant global insurance clients.

Deloitte’s global reinsurance and London market practice provides audit and assurance, risk advisory, tax and legal, consulting and financial advisory services to carriers, brokers and other market participants in the global commercial, specialty and reinsurance markets.

Johal said the move marks Deloitte’s increased focus on servicing this sector of the reinsurance industry. “It is a very exciting sector of the market which is going through a period of major change, investment and innovation,” he said. “We recognise the specific challenges the sector faces and will use our global expertise – be it M&A and tax advisory, post-merger integration, underwriting excellence, functional or broader digital transformation – to help our clients successfully navigate these shifting dynamics.”

Andy Masters, UK insurance leader at Deloitte, added: “Global reinsurance and the London markets are highly sophisticated segments that we believe are on the cusp of significant change.”
