Former PartnerRe CEO takes board seat at another insurer

Emmanuel Clarke (pictured), the former president and chief executive officer (CEO) of reinsurer  PartnerRe, has joined the board of directors of Canadian property/casualty insurer  Intact Financial Corporation.

Clarke serves on various boards, including chairman of the board of re/insurance legacy specialist Compre Group, as well as Paris-based digital insurance company Wakam (ex-La Parisienne Assurances). He also sits on the boards of online reinsurance marketplace Tremor Technologies, and McKinsey & Company.

Clarke left PartnerRe in July 2020 after spending more than twenty-five years at the reinsurer. During his tenure at PartnerRe, Clarke held various underwriting leadership roles in the company's property and casualty (P&C), specialty lines, and international divisions. In 2015, he was appointed president of the company and shortly thereafter took on the role of president and CEO, where his leadership was instrumental in building the company's global reinsurance business.

Claude Dussault, chair of board of directors at Intact, said: "We are pleased to welcome Emmanuel Clarke to our Board of Directors at this important stage of Intact's growth. As a highly respected and seasoned professional with valuable global insurance industry experience, we look forward to Mr. Clarke's guidance as Intact continues to execute its strategy."
