Lloyd’s reopens iconic underwriting room after revamp
Specialist insurance and reinsurance marketplace Lloyd’s of London has fully reopened its iconic underwriting room today (September 18) following its first major refurbishment in 38 years.
The ground floor as well as galleries 1 and 2 of Lloyd’s Underwriting Room, which were closed in July, have reopened for face to face trading, and the tours will recommence from September 25.
Sheila Cameron, chief executive officer, Lloyd’s Market Association, commented on the reopening of the Lloyd’s Underwriting Room: “Today, the Lloyd’s Market Association is especially proud to have worked hand in hand with Lloyd’s in modernising this historic London industry as it reopens and unveils the refurbished Underwriting Room.
“For hundreds of years, the Underwriting Room has been the heart of the marketplace and this revitalised trading floor reflects the sector’s dedication both to preserving tradition and embracing the future. As the floor reopens, we know that the global insurance community will use this space and continue to build a more resilient, interconnected and sustainable future.”
