Markel hires retro exec from Guy Carpenter

Markel has poached a retrocessional specialist from Guy Carpenter’s Bermuda team.

Erik Manning has resigned from Guy Carpenter, where he spent four years in the retrocession team in Bermuda, and is expected to join Markel shortly.

Manning was involved in expanding the Guy Carpenter’s presence in the Bermuda marketplace and developing retrocession market-based reinsurance solutions. He reported to Kevin Fisher, chairman of Global Specialties.

Prior to this, Manning was director at Deutsche Bank for three years, where he was responsible for originating and structuring non-life insurance linked securities.
