Munich Re brings in talent to take reins of ME & Africa life operations

Global reinsurer  Munich Re picked a top exec from a German tech-based life insurer to become chief executive officer for its life and health business for the Middle East and North Africa along with leadership of MR HealthTech and MedNet.

Owais Ansari (pictured) comes to Munich Re after a fourteen year tenure at German-based tech life insurance FWU / forwardyou where he has been deputy board chairman following roles as chief actuary, COO and other posts in Dubai, Luxembourg and Munich.

Owais will step September 1 to succeed Frank Mayer who is retiring at year-end after having held the leadership post for the region for 17 years.

The CEO of Munich Re Life & Health Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa, Daniel Cossette, commented: “Owais will … further strengthen our successful partnerships with clients in the years to come, as we remain committed to be their valued partners and to growing our presence in the Middle East and African markets.”
