Reinsurer  QBE Re has pushed a long-term insider up the ladder to take up its top claims leadership role.

Wood has been with QBE for almost 20 years, having held roles across QBE’s claims function, most recently as claims manager, financial and specialty markets (FSM), complex claims for QBE Europe.

She will start the new role in April and reports to Mike East, claims director, QBE Europe and will become a member of the EO claims executive leadership team as well as becoming part of QBE Re’s senior leadership.

Fiona Sperry, head of complex claims, will act as interim claims manager for FSM in addition to her
current role while QBE conducts search for a permanent replacement.

Chris Killourhy, managing director, QBE Re, said: “I am delighted Debbi will be leading QBE Re’s claims team as we continue to deliver our goal of sustainable growth and building long-term relationships with our customers.”

Mike East, claims director, QBE Europe added: “This appointment is another great example of the internal talent we have within QBE. Debbi’s depth of experience of claims will continue to further enhance our customer value proposition.”
