QBE taps Allianz talent for head of trading role
QBE has recruited a senior executive from Allianz to fill in the newly created role of head of trading for Glasgow/Belfast. The re/insurer plans to “materially grow” in the UK through to 2027.
QBE has appointed Chris Long as head of trading for Glasgow/Belfast. Based in Glasgow, he will report to Andy Fitzgerald, director of UK regions for QBE European operations.
Long will lead the regional underwriting teams in QBE’s Glasgow and Belfast regional offices, engaging with broker partners and customers and driving trading aimed at supporting cross-class customer-focused solutions.
He joins QBE from Allianz, where he was distribution manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Long's appointment follows QBE's appointment of heads of trading for its other UK regions. The appointments included David Round in Birmingham; Steve Field in Bristol; Janine Wood in Leeds; and Stacey Flannery in Manchester.
Fitzgerald said: “We have gained real traction across all our regional offices, and Chris’s appointment will further strengthen our growth agenda in Glasgow and Belfast. We have an overall plan to materially grow in the UK through to 2027, and this appointment will further strengthen our ambition to position the UK regions as a driving force behind our growth.”
