SCOR looks to ‘significantly upscale’ marine & energy business

Global reinsurer  SCOR has recruited a former Sompo International executive to help “significantly upscale” its marine & energy business.

Adrian Poxon (pictured) has joined the company's property/casualty reinsurance division, SCOR Global P&C, as chief underwriting officer (CUO) global lines marine & energy - including energy upstream and downstream, aviation & space and engineering. He will report to Michel Blanc, CEO of SCOR Global P&C.

Previously, Poxon has held similar positions at Sompo International and PartnerRe. He spent the first half of his career in the London market, starting out in aviation insurance before moving to marine at Lloyd’s. After working for Leslie and Godwin and Gerling Global Re, he left the London market in 2003 to join PartnerRe in Zurich rising to head of global marine and energy. In 2014, he joined Endurance Specialty Insurance as global head of marine and energy, before being promoted to head of global specialty lines.

Poxon will now join SCOR in January 2022 as CUO of global specialty lines for marine & energy, engineering, aviation and space.

Blanc said: “Adrian Poxon is a Global Line’s highly regarded Chief Underwriter with a track record of successful leadership. He will join a great team of SCOR experts and work with them to significantly upscale our Marine & Energy - including Energy upstream and downstream, Aviation & Space and Engineering books by developing initiatives and adding new, complementary portfolios to our existing reinsurance portfolio.”
