Shipping insurer Gard appoints new Hong Kong MD
Gard, the shipowner-controlled provider of P&I, marine and energy insurance products, has appointed a new managing director of its Hong Kong office.
André Werner Kroneberg (pictured) will replace Mark Russell as managing director of the Hong Kong office from 1 January 2022. Kroneberg joined Gard in December 2005 since when he has held various positions including vice president products, managing director for Gard UK, before becoming CUO in Asia.
Kroneberg is currently chief underwriting officer in Asia, a role he will retain. Russell will be returning to Gard UK to assume global responsibility for Cargo Claims, as well as a new role as senior advisor to the chief claims officer for Loss Control on Large Claims.
Gard has gross written premiums of $922 million and nearly 550 staff in 13 offices around the world.
