Swiss Re gets approval to write direct insurance in Mexico
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of Swiss Re Group, has obtained formal authorisation from the local insurance authorities to operate as an insurer in Mexico. The company was registered as a 'foreign reinsurer' in Mexico since 2014.
The newly licensed entity, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions México Seguros, began operations on Jan. 02, 2018 from its Mexico City office. It will offer multi-line insurance coverage to mid-sized and large companies and government entities through agents and brokers with an initial focus on engineering and construction, general liability, marine and property.
"By developing customized coverage tailored to each company or entity's specific risks, we give our clients the peace of mind to focus on their businesses," said Carmina Abad, CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions México Seguros. "We're also committed to service excellence and strive to build strong, lasting relationships with clients and brokers."
Newton Queiroz, head of sales Latin America, added: "The financial backing and global expertise of the Swiss Re Group allow us to protect Mexican entities from large risks. We look forward to working with clients and brokers throughout the country, which is a strategic market for Corporate Solutions' long-term growth."
