Tokio Marine Kiln makes ‘bold’ moves in cyber expansion

Specialist global insurer  Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has made a string of “strategically significant” appointments and hires from Arch/AXA XL, among other changes as part of plans to expand its presence in the cyber market.

Aoife Woulfe, previously head of intellectual property (IP) at TMK, has taken on the role of head of delegated cyber. Her focus will be on enhancing TMK’s small and medium enterprise cyber offering, leveraging her extensive knowledge in the field. Woulfe is credited for transforming TMK’s IP underwriting process and improving efficiency in her previous role.

TMK’s IP book will now be led by Ellie Webb.

Paul Gooch, previously head of cyber open market, will oversee TMK’s large account portfolio as divisional head of large account cyber. Gooch has been with TMK since 2009.

Daniel Moore will join TMK’s London team as a cyber underwriter in mid-July. A former barrister, Moore joins from Arch Insurance International where he served most recently as cyber and technology underwriter. He has also worked for Clyde & Co and AmTrust.

Sam Bye will also join as a cyber underwriter, based in Singapore, from August 1. Bye brings more than 10 years’ experience of underwriting cyber, technology and professional indemnity risks to the role. He joins from AXA XL, where he held the position of cyber & technology PI manager, responsible for portfolio exposure, and implementing underwriting guidelines and ransomware risk management strategy.

The appointments follow the news that TMK has established a standalone cyber & enterprise risk division and has broadened its team’s cyber experience beyond insurance with the appointment of cyber security specialist, Luke Fardell.

Laila Khudairi, head of cyber & enterprise Risk at TMK, said: “These appointments further signal our bold intentions for cyber. This is an ever more complex area, with the threat increasing in both frequency and effectiveness. We continue to innovate and add the skills required, building on almost two decades of experience in mitigating cyber risks for our clients. I am very pleased to welcome Daniel and Sam to TMK and my congratulations to Paul and Aoife, whose proven talents will be significant in further enhancing our cyber proposition.”
