TransRe icon retires after 41-years; Aspen leader tapped to take EMEA helm

Veteran executive who played the “most significant role” in building  TransRe as a global reinsurance player is set to retire from his executive vice chairman role after 41 years of service. Additionally, the company has tapped a senior leader from  Aspen to take helm of its continental European business.

Paul Bonny (pictured right) will retire from executive vice chairman role on May 1, but will remain on TransRe’s board of directors as a non-executive director.

Bonny established TransRe's international division when he launched the London office in 1982. His efforts in constructing a team of nearly two hundred professionals in eleven offices across eight time zones have been paramount in developing TransRe into a renowned global reinsurance company.

Ken Brandt acknowledged Bonny’s significant impact on TransRe and the London and international markets throughout his time in the reinsurance business. He said: “Paul has been an institution both at TransRe and across the London and international markets throughout my reinsurance career. For the past seventeen years I have been able to call on his advice and counsel, and I have been lucky enough to call him my friend. I wish Paul and Sue a long and healthy retirement together.”

In order to further develop its business in continental Europe, TransRe has hired Julien Mollinier (pictured left) as president of EMEA. He has been with Aspen for 14 years, most recently as head of EMEA and LatAm. Prior to that, Mollinier served as head of property Europe and senior underwriter for credit and surety. He also previously worked at XL Group.
