XL Catlin hires Nationwide's commercial surety head

Re/insurer XL Catlin has appointed Maria Duhart as head of commercial bonds. She most recently served as head of commercial surety at Nationwide.

In her new role based in Summit, New Jersey, Duhart will report to the global head of political risk, credit and bond (PRCB) Dan Riordan, and will be responsible for leading the growth of XL Catlin's commercial bond team.

Prior to Nationwide, Duhart held the position of regional commercial surety manager, assistant vice president – surety and senior surety underwriting specialist at Chubb.

"As a leading market for PRCB business, we are relentlessly focused on strengthening our capabilities and product offering," Riordan commented. “Maria is a talented and recognised leader in the market. She brings a wealth of experience in the commercial bond space which will further support our growth strategies and most importantly, support the needs of our clients and partners."
