AEGIS London poaches from MS Amlin and Endurance

AEGIS London has hired two senior executives from MS Amlin and Endurance respectively as it said it looks to consolidate its position as a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.

Hermien Smeets-Flier has joined AEGIS London as chief financial officer and Graeme Tennyson as director of Risk and Compliance. Both will report to CEO David Croom-Johnson.

Smeets-Flier joins AEGIS London from MS Amlin where she was CFO of syndicate 2001. She was also a board member of Amlin Underwriting and a member of the audit and risk committees, responsible for all financial and actuarial matters including statutory and regulatory reporting.

Graeme Tennyson joins AEGIS London from Endurance Underwriting where he has been head of compliance since August 2015. Previously he was head of compliance at Montpelier Underwriting Agencies from July 2013.

Prior to this, Tennyson spent over nine years at the PRA/FSA, where he held roles including Head of Lloyd’s Market Supervision.

Croom-Johnson said: “We are delighted that Hermien and Graeme have joined AEGIS London. Hermien’s expertise and depth of knowledge as a CFO will be an invaluable asset to us going forward. Her all-round experience will no doubt enable the business to fully realise our London focused strategy and consolidate our position as a leading Lloyd’s syndicate.

"Graeme brings with him a considerable track record in risk and compliance, which I have no doubt will help us to deliver against our business development goals. We are looking forward to reaping the benefits of these two first class additions to our senior team.”
