AIG appoints new chief information officer as Fasano resigns

American International Group (AIG) has appointed Martha Gallo as the chief information officer. Gallo previously served as AIG's chief auditor.

Gallo succeeds Philip Fasano, who has resigned from the company to pursue other opportunities, the company said. Fasano joined AIG in September 2014.

Peter Hancock, president and CEO, said: "Martha is a highly experienced business leader, having held a number of senior roles leading technology teams prior to joining AIG. She has a proven track record of delivering measurable, sustainable results to drive business performance.

"Technology investment and implementation remains a key priority as we focus on bringing new innovations to our clients to help them face their most pressing challenges."

He added: "Phil elevated our ambitions and approach to technology, as well as making significant improvements in AIG's IT capabilities during his time with the company. He also helped bring together a highly talented technology team whose efforts have begun transforming the way we work, and have enabled our businesses to compete more effectively. I want to extend our sincere appreciation to Phil for his leadership and partnership."
