AIR Worldwide appoints Churney as COO

Catastrophe modelling firm AIR Worldwide has appointed Bill Churney as chief operating officer.

Churney will have immediate responsibility for all product management, software product development, global business development, marketing, consulting, and client service activities.

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome Bill Churney to the newly created position of COO to help lead AIR as we continue to experience rapid growth in the global market for catastrophe modelling and related risk management services,” said Ming Lee, CEO of AIR Worldwide.

“Bill has been an invaluable member of our team for many years and has shown great leadership skills and a strong dedication to our mission and core values. Our clients will benefit greatly from his contributions to the company in this new role.”

Churney joined AIR in 2002 and most recently served as senior vice president of AIR’s business development and marketing groups. In that role, he was responsible for providing support and service to AIR clients in the insurance, reinsurance, and intermediary markets in the Americas, and he oversaw AIR’s global marketing strategy.

Churney has extensive experience working directly with companies to better understand their catastrophe risk management processes. He has led teams that have significantly expanded AIR’s presence in the US insurance markets and within Latin America.

Before joining AIR, Churney worked in product management and operations management.
