Allied World appoints new reinsurance CEO

Allied World has appointed John Bender as chief executive officer (CEO) for the company’s global reinsurance operations. Bender has overseen Allied World’s reinsurance platform globally since 2011.

Bender joined Allied World in 2007 as the chief operating officer of Allied World Reinsurance Company where he was responsible for expanding the company’s US reinsurance platform and for overseeing day-to-day operations. Since December 2011, he has assumed responsibility for providing strategic leadership and executing business strategies for the company’s global reinsurance operations.

Prior to joining Allied World, Bender held several senior management positions at Platinum Underwriters. Before Platinum, he held numerous claims and underwriting positions with St. Paul Reinsurance Management Company.
