Aon Benfield appoints Turkey CEO

Aon Benfield, the global reinsurance intermediary and capital advisor of Aon, has appointed Ferhan Ozay as chief executive officer (CEO) of its Turkish team, based in Istanbul.

He replaces Servet Gurkan, chairman and CEO of Aon Benfield Turkey, who will retire on July 1, 2014. Gurkan joined and founded Aon Benfield Turkey in 2002.

Ozay will report to Ahmed Rajab, CEO of Aon Benfield Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

He joined Aon Benfield in 2006 to manage both the treaty and facultative capabilities of the Turkish business, before taking a sole focus on the facultative account in 2009. His 23 years of industry experience includes roles of executive vice president at Garanti and assistant general manager at Isvicre Insurance companies.

Richard Posgate, co-CEO EMEA, said: “Servet has been an admirable CEO of Aon Benfield Turkey and the firm’s business growth in the region over the past decade is testament to his high levels of professionalism. I would like to thank Servet for his 35 years of dedication to our industry, and for the support he has offered to his colleagues over many years.”

Rajab said: “Ferhan has extensive reinsurance industry experience and brings tremendous focus and expertise to his new role, which will ensure that Aon Benfield continues to deliver the best service to our clients in the Turkish market. We are thrilled that he has agreed to lead our Turkish team.”
