Aon bolsters board of directors and audit committee

Global re/insurance broker  Aon has bolstered its board of directors with a new appointment to help tackle some of the pressing societal and economic challenges that global organisations are facing.

Adriana Karaboutis (pictured), chief information and digital officer of National Grid, has joined Aon’s board and is expected to be appointed to the audit committee and the compliance sub-committee.

Since August 2017, Karaboutis has served as chief information and digital officer of National Grid, a public utility companies, where she oversees security and digital risk in addition to the development of National Grid's digital strategy. National Grid is focused on transmitting and distributing electricity and gas in the UK and northeast US. Prior to that, she was executive vice president of technology, business solutions and corporate affairs at Biogen, a global biotechnology company, where she introduced leading digital and data science capabilities to unlock value across the drug discovery, development and delivery processes. She also oversaw global public affairs, government affairs, public policy and patient advocacy.

Previously, Karaboutis was vice president and global chief information officer of Dell. She also spent more than 20 years at General Motors Company and Ford Motor Company in various international leadership positions, including computer-integrated manufacturing, supply chain operations and information technology.
