Arch Re nabs former Hamilton Re CFO to support strategic growth

Bermuda-based  Arch Reinsurance has hired a new chief financial officer (CFO) from  Hamilton Re.

Vanessa Hardy Pickering (pictured) was previously CFO at Hamilton Re and group treasurer at Hamilton Insurance Group. She takes up her new post at Arch Re on September 1, 2021, and will report to Jerome Halgan, chief executive officer at Arch Re.

Hardy Pickering has a track record of supporting strategic growth plans, assembling and leading strong teams and serving as a trusted business partner to a variety of stakeholders. Before Hamilton she held senior financial roles at Ariel Re and Rosemont Reinsurance.

Halgan praised Hardy Pickering’s extensive industry knowledge and her ability to navigate complicated and fast moving situations. “ Arch Re has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years with the help of an improved market and will greatly benefit from Vanessa’s knowledge of the Bermuda market and experience with global reinsurance companies’ opportunities and challenges,” he said.

Hardy Pickering added: “ Arch Re is one of the strongest franchises in Bermuda and has a very thoughtful strategic plan in place. I’m looking forward to leveraging my background and expertise to help the team achieve its goals.”
