Arch swoops on Hiscox to bolster contingency underwriting team
Arch Insurance International has hired a senior contingency underwriter from Hiscox as it looks to expand its position in the sector.
Arch Insurance International, a part of Arch Capital Group, includes Arch Insurance UK and the P&C insurance operations of Arch Insurance (EU) dac, as well as Arch’s insurance operations in Europe, Bermuda and Australia.
Tom Stoyle (pictured) will join Arch from Hiscox. Having joined the company in 2013, he initially worked within the political risk, contingency and kidnap & ransom teams before becoming a contingency underwriter in 2016.
Stoyle’s appointment follows that of Chris Rackliffe as head of contingency and accident & health, and Claire Atley as a senior underwriter, contingency.
The firm’s contingency team operates across multiple sectors, such as event organisers, media companies, broadcasters, advertising agencies and sponsors. Coverage includes event cancellation, non-appearance, weather, terrorism and political violence for events, prize indemnity, film production and advertising agency protection.
Arch also recently became part of the UK Government Scheme for live events which began in September. The scheme provides cover for live events in the UK which are open to the public, including music events, sports events and trade shows.
